Mandated Reporting to Community Supporting

Mandated reporting to community supporting is a movement to shift the focus of mandated reporter responsibilities from primarily reporting suspected child abuse to actively supporting families within their communities, aiming to provide resources and interventions before situations escalate to the need for child welfare involvement.

There are four workgroups focusing on specific areas:

·      Community Resources – assess the resources and support services needed to drive meaningful change across the diverse Orange County communities being served

·      Tools - compile existing tools, templates, decision trees, and supporting materials that can assist target populations in adopting and sustaining this mindset shift

·      Education and Training – developstandardized training materials that address the specific needs of providers to effectively support and serve their clients

·      Recruitment - engage key decision-makers, subject matter experts, and community stakeholders to drive awareness and foster a positive shift in the MRCS narrative
