  • The OC Summit: Improving Care for Families Affected by Substance Use was held on October 16 and 17, 2023. The Summit was a huge success with over 120 individuals from over 30 organizations participating in the two-day event.

    Following the Summit, Orange County adopted the name Family Wellness Plan (FWP) for what was previously known as the Plans of Safe Care.

    The Family Support Task Force developed a Family Wellness Plan Template which is now available to all providers via the EveryParentOC website: https://everyparentoc.org/providers/posc-provider-resources/

    The Family Support Task Force established four workgroups with specific goals:
    - Stigma and Discrimination: Reduce stigma and discrimination by identifying and implementing methods to establish trust between the community, child welfare, service delivery providers, and the judicial system.
    - FWP Coordination: Increase the coordination of care and the implementation of FWP by developing and implementing protocols between partners that formalize how partner agencies interact, serve, and improve outcomes for families impacted by parental substance use and infants effected by prenatal exposure to substances.
    - Data: Improve data collection and exchange with a racial/ethnic equity lens.
    - Family-Centered Care: Increase access to care and services by cultivating a family-centered focus of treatment and support.
